Nexus one mobile phone

Nexus One was Google’s First Mobile Phone and also their Last:

If you are impressed with the Nexus One but are waiting with a hope that Google may release a new version of their phone (hardware) in the coming months, go ahead and just buy the original Nexus One because Google has absolutely no plans of launching another phone.

Google is sort of moving away from the phone hardware business to focus all their attention on the software [Android] front. This was confirmed by Google’s Eric Schmidt himself in an online interview:

The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn’t have to do a second one.

I called up the board and said: Ok, it worked. Congratulations -- we’re stopping.

Neowin says that Google’s decision to not produce a “Nexus Two” might have been influenced by weaker than expected sales of the original Nexus One but I think they’ve still set the ball rolling and you now have impressive array of Android based devices from HTC, Samsung and Motorola to choose from.

The Nexus One Advantage:

Yes, you’ve better alternatives to the Nexus One, like the HTC Desire and Motorola Droid, but there’s one major advantage with the original Google phone that early adopters like you may find hard to ignore – all future Android OS upgrades can be installed on the Nexus One on day one itself which in the case of HTC and Motorola devices, you’ll always have to wait a little longer.
